Transforming Resident Engagement During Regeneration: The Ravensbury Live Experience

Introduction

Regeneration projects are most successful when local communities feel informed, included, and empowered throughout the process. The Ravensbury estate in Mitcham, South West London, is a shining example of how ebrik’s digital engagement platform has transformed resident experience during major redevelopment. In collaboration with Clarion Housing, ebrik has helped set a new standard for transparency and communication-one that puts residents at the heart of every phase, from consultation to aftercare.

Amongst other successful ebrik projects like Barne Barton’s regeneration and planned investment works such as Sutton Chelsea’s, the Ravensbury regeneration aligned perfectly with ebrik’s mission to provide transparency to residents across every phase, from consultation and construction to aftercare.

The Project: Revitalising Ravensbury Estate

Built just after the Second World War, the original Ravensbury estate featured non-traditionally constructed homes that no longer met residents’ needs. Clarion Housing’s landscape-driven regeneration will deliver 200 new, high-quality homes, replacing outdated properties and creating a vibrant, sustainable community. With Phase 2 underway (54 homes completing in 2025), ebrik’s tools-like live progress tracking and feedback portals-are ensuring residents stay informed and engaged throughout the process.

“While building Ravensbury Live the primary goal was to develop and nurture a solution which truly addressed the needs and sentiments of residents. At times the construction process can be long and arduous, leading to potential frustration and unease on the part of the community.  One of our key objectives was to address this with ebrik’s features when building Ravensbury Live.” - Ana Mouthinho, Founder of ebrik

The Challenge: Keeping Residents Connected

Large-scale regeneration can be disruptive and complex, often leaving residents feeling uncertain or disconnected. Traditional communication methods-letters, noticeboards, and occasional meetings-struggle to keep everyone informed, especially across multiple construction phases. Ravensbury’s project team recognised the need for a more transparent, accessible, and interactive approach.

The Solution: A Digital Resident Engagement Platform

To bridge the gap, ebrik collaborated closely with Clarion Housing and its partners to introduce a digital engagement platform that empowers residents to:

  • Track Construction Progress in Real Time: Residents and buyers can select their property and view regular photo and video updates, demystifying the building process and reducing anxiety.
  • Access On-Demand Information: Updates, timelines, and key project documents are available 24/7, ensuring everyone has the latest news at their fingertips.
  • Share Feedback and Ask Questions: Interactive features allow residents to voice concerns, ask questions, and feel heard-fostering a sense of community ownership.
  • Visual Storytelling: Guided video tours and landscape highlights bring the regeneration journey to life, making technical details accessible and engaging for all ages.
“The use of digital engagement through Ravensbury Live is particularly important now that construction is underway. Previously what goes on behind site hoardings was difficult to discern and understand. Now residents can visit Ravensbury Live and get updates on progress, not just of the development site, but of their individual home. This helps with understanding what stage of completion their home is at and the timelines involved in construction.” - Paul Quinn, Director of Merton Regeneration

Impact: Building Trust and Community

The results at Ravensbury speak for themselves:

  • Higher Resident Satisfaction: Transparent communication has led to increased trust and reduced uncertainty among residents.
  • Active Community Participation: Residents are more engaged, with many following their home’s progress and participating in digital forums.
  • A Model for Future Projects: Ravensbury’s digital-first approach is setting a benchmark for other regeneration schemes, showing that technology can humanise and enhance the resident experience.
“It would make me feel more comfortable, that in everything they are doing they are considering you, and you can go through the whole process with them. They are not just pushing you aside, they are keeping you updated.” - Ravensbury Resident

“It saves me having to harass people to find out things…I can do it myself from my phone. I want to know what is happening, when it’s happening…and to be able to see all that in videos is really cool.” - Ravensbury Resident

Why This Matters

The Ravensbury regeneration demonstrates that digital engagement isn’t just a nice-to-have-it’s essential for modern housing projects. By making information accessible, interactive, and visual, project teams can build stronger relationships with residents, reduce complaints, and deliver better outcomes for everyone involved.

Conclusion: See Ravensbury Live

The Ravensbury estate live project is proof that when residents are informed and involved, regeneration delivers not just new homes, but stronger, happier communities. As the transformation continues, the ebrik powered digital platform ensures every resident remains at the center of the story.
